Serving Ideas

These skewers make for a fantastic main course or a delightful appetizer at gatherings. Pair them with a zesty avocado dipping sauce for an extra burst of flavor. For a complete meal, serve over a bed of quinoa or wild rice.

Ingredient Subs

  • Tempeh: If you’re looking for a soy-free alternative, try using seitan or marinated tofu.
  • Maple Syrup: Agave nectar or date syrup can be used as a sweetener substitute.
  • Liquid Smoke: Smoked paprika or chipotle powder can impart a similar smoky flavor.
  • Soy Sauce: Tamari or coconut aminos work as great gluten-free options.

Cooking Tips

  1. Marinate for Maximum Flavor: Allow the tempeh to soak up the marinade for at least 30 minutes for a robust taste.
  2. Even Skewering: Ensure even cooking by threading tempeh and Brussels sprouts alternately on the skewers.
  3. Preheat the Grill: A hot grill prevents sticking and ensures a nice sear on the tempeh.
  4. Baste Generously: Brush on the smoky BBQ sauce liberally during grilling for a mouthwatering glaze.
  5. Watch the Brussels Sprouts: Keep an eye on them in the oven to avoid overcooking – you want them tender, not mushy.
